Kvyat not afraid of Red Bull-junior Tsunoda: "Have no control over that"

Halfway through the 2020 Formula 1 season it's clear who is the better performing driver within AlphaTauri. While Pierre Gasly has 45 points and one victory in his pocket, Daniil Kvyat is fixed at 14. Despite this, the Russian driver is not afraid to be replaced next year.
This is what Kvyat tells Motorsport.com after his home race at the Sochi Autodrom, when he is asked about the rumours that Red Bull-junior Yuki Tsunoda will make the step to F1 in 2021. "I've been in this world long enough to be in the knowledge that I shouldn't worry about such things, because I don't have control over them anyway. That's why I focus on what I can influence: performing as well as possible with the material given to me".
Kvyat continues that he actually has no other choice. "For my engineers and the rest of the team it would not be fair for me to concern myself with such matters, because they give me everything they have. I have to do the same, that's the least I can do. We've had some good races now, thanks in part to the good work we've done together to improve my performance".
Kvyat trusts manager Todt
Kvyat also has little objection to the fact that he has not yet received confirmation from the team as to whether he can stay on in 2021. "They have every right to take their time. It is up to them to make the right decisions. I myself sometimes talk about it with my manager Nicholas (Todt, ed.). I trust him completely about such matters".
