Esteban Ocon had a fight with his engineer at the end of the Italian Grand Prix. The Frenchman finished the race eighth, after starting twelfth. They were happy at Renault, but Ocon was clearly not.

"Esteban, great job, well-done mate. P8 from P12 isn't bad at all," the engineer began to talk to Ocon on the on-board radio. "I disagree. I think we've missed it completely in this race. This was a huge opportunity," Ocon said.

We'll talk about it in the office.

At Renault, they disagree with Ocon's behaviour. "Just keep it off the radio, keep it off the radio, please. We'll talk about it in the office. Thank you," says the engineer, to which Ocon replies, "No, we have to face reality."

His engineer repeats: "Please don't talk about it on the radio", to which Cyril Abiteboul adds: "Esteban, this is not the place." That's why the onboard radios from Ocon stopped. (Photo: Renault Sport Media)

Update 08.50h (11/09) | Ocon reacts to Monza onboard radio incident: "I went too far"

Esteban Ocon commented on the on-board radio incident that circulated on social media after the Italian Grand Prix. The Frenchman expressed his dissatisfaction with the P8 he scored with Renault in Monza, after which he was gagged by his engineer.

"I was a bit disappointed that they didn't share my opinion but in the end I went a bit too far. If you look at how we performed that weekend, we had a strong race", the former Force India rider ties in according to RaceFans.

Ocon would like to reiterate why he was so disappointed: "There would have been opportunities if we had taken a gamble. I find it hard to miss opportunities in a race like that. I also think it's important that we discuss these things within the team".
