Daniel Ricciardo will leave for McLaren after the season, but that does not mean that his current employer Renault will treat him differently in 2020. Team boss Cyril Abiteboul suggested that the Aussie will not be sidelined for revenge.
The Frenchman told this to Reuters, during a press meet. “There won’t be any preferential treatment between Esteban and Daniel on the back of his decision, because it’s not the policy of the team.”
Abiteboul explains why there would be no point in sidelining Ricciardo. “let’s be honest, I’m not fighting for any championship as we stand right now so it would make absolutely no sense, and Daniel will be fully involved in the development process of the car. The only thing is obviously, he won’t be exposed to (the) 2022 (car),” the French team boss concluded.
