Daniel Ricciardo spoke out about the departure of Sebastian Vettel from Ferrari. According to the Renault driver, Vettel should remain active in the sport, otherwise his career will be over.

"The sport has been at a standstill for a long time and incredibly things have happened. The movement in the drivers market naturally got going when Vettel announced that he was leaving Ferrari", says the Australian, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Ricciardo had not anticipated the departure of the Heppenheimer: "A surprising choice". It is not yet clear to which team Vettel is leaving. At least Ricciardo is already set to fill the seat that Carlos Sainz puts available when he leaves McLaren.

Gap year would be a bad idea for Vettel

Ricciardo thinks that a gap year is not a good idea for Vettel: "Have we ever seen someone come back from a gap year in Formula 1? On the other hand, it is an odd situation, because Vettel is still relatively young." (Photo: Ferrari F1 Team)
