James Allison, Mercedes technical director, considers it unlikely that his team will recruit Sebastian Vettel in the near future. According to the Brit, such a scenario is unlikely. But he expects that the two gentlemen [Vettel and Lewis Hamilton] could pass through one door if it comes to it.
In the F1 Nation podcast, Allison discussed the possible arrival of the four-time world champion. "The first thing I want to say about this is that we currently have a more than deserving driver line-up."
"So it is not easy to imagine a scenario in which Vettel's arrival is on the agenda. In addition, we also have access to other good drivers in the series", says the Mercedes-engineer.
In the last comment, he was refering to George Russell, who is currently with Williams. Esteban Ocon could also be an option for the German racing outfit in the long term since Toto Wolff is the manager of the Frenchman.
Hamilton and Vettel would work
Should it eventually turn out to that Vettel will to Mercedes, while Hamilton is still there, Allison expects that that would not cause huge problems: "I can imagine that when it comes to that, the two men (Lewis Hamilton and Vettel) will figure it out."
"Lewis is a phenomenon, and Vettel has also made some wonderful achievements in the sport. I am sure they would deal with each other in a professional manner if they were on the team together," Allison concluded. (Photo: Red Bull Content Pool / Getty Images)
