Sebastian Vettel started the day well for the Italians. The German began his laps relatively early and looked comfortable in the new Ferrari car and clocked 40 laps.
After about two and a half hours, Vettel reported that the power unit was not responding as expected. The German parked the car in the outside corner and was transported back.
Ferrari‘s PU problem
Yesterday, Kimi Raikkonen had to leave his Alfa Romeo on the circuit five minutes before the end of the first half. Presumably, the Finn had no fuel left.
Something is going on at Ferrari. The radio messages between the pitwall and Vettel suggested the Italian car had stopped because Vettel lost the engine, indicating a big setback for the Maranello squad.
Ferrari confirmed they would fit a replacement engine on the car and send the faulty one back to the factory for analysis. (Photo: Yahya S.)
